ChalkBench’s editorial standard is usefulness backed by evidence. This policy sets the requirements for coverage as the publication develops.
Independence and relevance
Topics should solve an educator’s problem or support a meaningful decision. Commercial relationships must not determine rankings or suppress material limitations. We do not publish a buying guide merely to create affiliate links.
Sources and fact-checking
Prefer primary sources for product capabilities, pricing, platform instructions and policy claims. Check information at the time of publication and link to the sources supporting material claims. Distinguish documented facts, observations and editorial judgment. Do not fabricate research, statistics, quotes or personal experience.
Testing and attribution
Hands-on claims require actual use and a documented method. Classroom-testing claims require relevant classroom use. Reviewers should disclose test conditions, limits and relevant access arrangements. Articles should identify their author and, where applicable, reviewer. The testing framework sets out the planned scoring method.
Updates and corrections
Review time-sensitive material when a meaningful product, pricing or policy change is identified. An updated date should reflect a substantive review or change, not a cosmetic attempt to appear fresh. Material corrections should explain what changed. Readers can submit a correction through Contact, including the page and evidence.
Originality and accessibility
Write original explanations around the educator’s task. Avoid copying competitors, padding for word counts or chasing plugin scores at the expense of clarity. Use descriptive headings, understandable tables, meaningful link text and image alternatives where needed. Accessibility claims should be limited to what was actually checked.
Privacy and AI assistance
Use approved or synthetic examples and remove private student details from shared evidence. AI may assist the editorial process, but it cannot supply invented observations or substitute for accountable human review. See the AI editorial policy.
