About ChalkBench

Practical technology for educators. Clear questions, useful evidence and respect for the realities of a teaching day.

ChalkBench is an educator-focused publication in development, covering AI, education technology and the everyday devices that support teaching. Its primary audience is educators in the United States, with resources intended to be useful to English-speaking educators elsewhere when the context fits.

Why the test bench?

Thousands of tools promise faster planning, better materials or an easier classroom workflow. A feature list rarely tells a teacher how much checking a result needs, whether an export prints properly, or what happens when the free plan runs out. ChalkBench exists to ask those practical questions.

Two connected areas of coverage

  • AI & EdTech: lesson planning, worksheets, assessment, feedback, differentiation, language support and teacher productivity.
  • Classroom technology: teacher laptops, Chromebooks, printers, projectors, audio equipment and school connectivity.

Every topic should connect to an educator’s task. We are not building a general consumer technology news site.

Evidence before a verdict

Our standards require a clear distinction between research, hands-on testing and classroom use. The testing framework describes the evidence future reviews should provide. No product has been awarded a ChalkBench Score during this foundation launch.
